Have you ever been in a battle on the train with people who needed to utilize center or upper berths to rest too soon or wake up later? Things get excessively entangled when you require, making it impossible to pull up a chair you have legitimately reserved, however another person is resting there.

In the wake of taking some point of interest choices, Indian Railways has now chosen to chop down the sleeping hours in the train. And the resting time that was between 9 PM to 6 AM now has been sliced short to 8 hours between 10 PM to 6 AM.

The step has been taken to enforce the peace in the regular railway journey of the public by decreasing the chances of fights caused due to sleeping time.

A circular by Railway Ministry-

“Sleeping accommodation between 2200 hours and 0600 hours and sitting accommodation for the rest of the period is provided for the passengers in the reserved coaches having sleeping accommodation. Passengers are, however, requested to cooperate with the sick, persons with disability, and pregnant ladies in case they want to sleep beyond permissible limits.”

Railway official said that the resting time was reduced by an hour because sometimes when passengers want to sleep as soon as they board the train – day or night,  leaving the co-travellers on the upper & middle berths high and dry. But on the other side sometimes the middle berth passengers deny to get up and this causes a lot of problems to the lower berth passengers.

Ministry officials said that the new decision will help TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) to resolve such fight on train by preventing anyone from taking naps beyond the permissible time.
