Indian Railways is developing and the signs of progress are easily visible, This department is under the leadership of Suresh Prabhu (Railway minister). Some of the essential steps of schemes & cleanliness and improvement drives, he has proved his work. Adding to his achievement he has introduced train coaches which will run through solar power. These solar energy trains will going to save somewhere around 21,000 Litres of diesel.
The First ever Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train was floored on the tracks this 14th July. The train has been given green signal from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railways Station. Interestingly, the coaches of the train have total 16 solar panels with 300 Watts each installed. If expectations were to be believed it would save a cost of rs. 12 lakh.
This go-green initiative which is an effective part of ‘Make In India’ has become first ever train in the world which is having solar grid rooftop, Our Nation created a history !
Interestingly, solar panels are expected to save the fuel and energy which will be using in internal fans, lights and other electrical operating system of the coach, also it will create a battery backup. In addition to that, the solar grids comes with anti-theft mechanism which will co-relate with train even when the speed of the train exceed trains running at a speed of more than 100 km/hr.
This project was under (IROAF) Indian Railways Organization for Alternate Fuels who has been working for the promotion of how to make effectivity in bio-diesels & how can we create alternative fuels in rail networking. The railways is further planning to run at least 50 coaches which can run on solar energy.
India’s widest transportation network has finally achieve something in unconventional development.
Isn’t it a proud moment for all of us as Indians?
