The civil service exam topper Shah Faesal has resigned from his position and plans to enter politics to protest the growing culture of intolerance of around 200 million Indian Muslims.
The reason behind his resignation is “Unabated Killing in Kashmir and Marginalisation of the Indian Muslims” as the central government denied to initiate any political process in the state.
Kashmiri IAS officer announced the news on his Twitter account, ” To protest the unabated killings in Kashmir and absence of any credible political initiative from Union Government, I have decided to resign from IAS. Kashmiri lives matter. I will be addressing a press conference on Friday. Attached is my detailed statement.”

Without mentioning the party name, he announced to join politics. But according to sources, Faesal was likely to join the party National Conference. But former CM Omar Abdullah clears out the rumors of his joining and said ‘his future political plans are his to announce’
Shah Faesal, who is an MBBS graduate from a village in Kupwara. He had topped the 2010 IAS examinations and over the years, he was working as Director of School Education, District Magistrate and Managing Director of Power Development Corporation.
After that, he was also pitched by the country’s political team as a role model that people of Kashmir should follow.
He completed his Fulbright fellowship from the Harvard Kennedy School, recently returned from the US.
