The properties of Dawood Ibrahim on Tuesday were put on auction by the Ministry of Finance. And the 3 Dawood Ibrahim Properties sold to SBUT (The Saifi Burhani Upliftment Trust) who won the bid.
The properties that were up for the auctions include his hotel Raunaq Afroz, 5 rooms in Dambarwala building, Shabnam Guest House. Saifi Burhani Trust won the bid for Rs 9 crore.
The ministry of finance auctioned the 3 Dawood Ibrahim Properties under Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act, 1976.
The Mumbai office of SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators) was flooded with the queries from many buyers who planned to bid for the 3 Dawood Ibrahim Properties . It also included bidders of a council of the Supreme Court and Hindu Maha Sabha.
Last week, SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators) arranged for a physical inspection of the three Dawood Ibrahim Properties.
The bidders were also allowed to examine the three properties which is up for sale between the timing 11 am and 1 pm.
And in January 2017, the Appellate Tribunal had given nod for the government’s move to takeover the three properties of Dawood under the provisions of SAFEMA.
In December 2015 too, the government had appointed a firm to arrange the auction under the SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators) Act, 1976. In that auction, 7 properties including Hotel Rounaq Afroz, four agricultural plots in Daman, Mahavir building in Matunga too were put up for the auction.
