The wounds and scars of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are still in a process of healing, but it will take a lifetime to heal. Today, India marks the tenth anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack that happened on 26th November 2008 and left 166 people dead while over 300 people injured.

A wave of violence and dejection unleashed after the terror attack that lasted for almost three days. On 26th November 2008, ten terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out coordinated attacks. They struck several targets including The Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, The Oberoi-Trident hotel, Nariman House, CST station and Leopold Cafe, Cama hospital.
The first group of terrorists attacked the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station. Mohammed Ajmal Kasab and Ismail Khan started to fire indiscriminately into crowds. Around 58 people were killed and attack lasted for 90 minutes but the pain of a lifetime. The second site was Nariman House, an outreach centre of Jewish Chabad movement. Terrorists blow up a gas station near the Nariman house which diverted the attention of people and attacked on the complex. The attack on the building ended after NSG commandos killed the two terrorists.
The third site was Leopold Cafe, four terrorists enter into the posh restaurant and attacked. About 10 people were killed and they also planted bombs in two taxis which killed 5 people and injured 15. An attack which lasts 10 to 15 minutes but scars are still not removed. After these attacks, the terrorists went for their major attacks.
The iconic hotel Taj Mahal Palace was the major part of the attack that lasted for 60 hours. 4 terrorists laid siege to the Taj Mahal hotel and started firing inside restaurants and conference rooms which almost killed 31 people. Another location that the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists attacked was the famous hotel Oberoi-Trident of Mumbai city. In a 42-hour attack involving shootings, explosions took the lives of more than 30 people while the prime focus were foreign nationals. Ajmal Kasab and one of the two who attacked the Cama hospital also.
It’s been 10 years of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and people still have a fear in their hearts. But the martyrs of 26/11 attack continue to live in our hearts & memories ever after.
