The case which started in 2006, when minors were raped and in that case, nine people were accused along with four survivors.

The oldest case from the Chandigarh district court is finally going to get its last hearing on June 4. The special CBI court convicted five accused including a former BSF DIG and an encounter specialist former DSP of J&K Police and acquitted two others due to benefit of a doubt.

The Inhuman personalities who did this brutal crime include names like Mohammad Ashraf Mir(Ex-DSP), KC Padhi (Ex-DIG BSF), Shabbir Ahmad Laway, Shabbir Ahmad Langoo, and Masood Ahmad. However, businessman Mehraj-ud-Din Malik and then Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir Anil Sethi were acquitted by the court.

History

The 12-year-old J&K rape case consists of criminals like top police officials, bureaucrats, politicians and even surrendered militants, they all exploited the minors and raped them. The minors who were forced into prostitution by above-mentioned in-humans, they were paid between Rs 250 to Rs 500.

This sex scandal got in the notice of the people in the year 2006 when the Jammu and Kashmir police came across video CDs of some Kashmiri minors being sexually exploited. After that, the police started the investigation and during the investigation names of 56 people allegedly involved in the racket came up including the then two ministers in J&K government apart from them several legislators, bureaucrats and police officials.
Then in May, the case got transferred to CBI from J&K Police, later that year the Supreme Court transferred the case to the district court in Chandigarh due to sensitive nature of the case.
The main accused of the case Sabeena, and her husband Abdul Hamid Bulla reported died during the trial of the long-held case.
the height of the case was that when the then Chief Minister of J&K Omar Abdullah found linked to this case and immediately filed for his resignation, but the governor rejected his resignation.
