Instagram the hype amongst youngster and even an amazing platform for the corporates was launched in October 2010, created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Since its launch, it has risen to great heights and gained millions of users and followers. Instagram amongst all the other social network sites is currently the most used one along with Facebook, WhatsApp, and Snapchat.
In December last year, Instagram added a new feature where one would be able to keep their stories for longer than 24 hours. Earlier the stories disappeared after 24 hours and there was no way to revive them once gone. The new feature enabled the user to highlight their feature which would then be available for everyone to see on their account. other than this all the stories would get stored in Archives folder from where they can retrieve too and add to highlights.
Then back in February, Instagram announced it is going to do add a new feature and do a pilot survey. The new feature being introduced was of notification when a follower takes a screenshot of your stories. This feature is essentially a huge recognized feature of the application Snapchat.
The news was not taken well by users. They took to twitter presenting their disappointment and voicing their opinions against the feature. It was as if Instagram is copying Snapchat.
Now, the company has announced that it is no longer providing the feature and it has been removed from the application.
Instead, the focus is now on a much better-upgraded version of Instagram with other newly added features.
One of the features is going to allow users to buy apparels directly from the story feeds. Earlier, this had to be done through visiting the page of the advertiser. Apart from this one more feature allows the user to share the stories uploaded by others where they themselves are tagged.
The big deal about the upcoming features being introduced is the feature where you can upload videos of the duration maximum 60 minutes.
This is going to be a major step by Instagram to compete with content like that on YouTube. This is going to give a rum to companies like Snapchat and YouTube.
These features are expected to be launched by 20 June.
