There’s a good news waiting for those who prefer to travel by train, India’s first engineless train crossed the 180 kmph speed limit during the trial run on Sunday. ‘Train18’ which is Rs 100 crore indigenously designed train, becomes the country’s fastest train.
S. Mani, General Manager, ICF that has manufactured the train said, ” Train 18 breached the 180 kmph speed limit in the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section. The major trials are now over with just some more remaining. Based on the reports fine tuning would be done if needed. As of now, no major technical problem has cropped up.”

Train18 with 16 coaches will have the equal passenger carrying capacity like Shatabdi Express. We can expect that the train will replace the current Shatabdi Express. The train was designed and developed in around 18 months which is absolutely a big thing. India’s first locomotive-less or engineless train is capable of touching the speed of 200 kmph.
If we discuss the features of India’s fastest train, then every alternative coach is motorised, for equal distribution of power.
The air-conditioned train offers comfort and safety to the passenger. We can expect extra space as all types of equipment is fixed under the coach.
To increase the passenger comfort, the train has automatic doors, modular toilets with bio-vacuum systems, onboard Wi-Fi, GPS-based passenger information system, rotational seats (for executive class), diffused LED lighting, and also disabled-friendly toilets.
India’s First Engine-Less Train has various features or we say more than our expectations. There will be emergency talk-back units, so passengers can talk to the crew in case of an emergency.
One more good thing, as CCTVs are provided in every coach for safe and secure travel.
Well, we’re done with the features and expect that Train 18 to run from January 2019. Are you excited to travel in Train 18? Let us know in the comment section below that which feature you love the most?
