The Indian football team scripted history with a 4-1 victory over Thailand in AFC Asian Cup 2019 at Abu Dhabi. It was India’s first Asian Cup win in 55 years and also the highest victory margin against Thailand.
After this biggest win, Sunil Chhetri is now the 2nd highest scorer in International football and we can’t stop gushing over it. Captain Sunil Chhetri scored twice while Jeje Lalpekhlua, Anirudh Thapa rounded off the win.
Considering the bigger picture, this is a good but small start. But I’ll talk about just this game – it was bloody brilliant to be a part of the way my team went about things. And it’s even more special knowing we made a country happy, even if it is only for a day.🙏🙏

With his two goals, Sunil Chhetri moved onto 66 goals, which means one more than Messi. So, Cristiano Ronaldo (85) is the one footballer who is ahead of him and it’s a big proud moment for India.
By overtaking Lionel Messi, Chhetri becomes the second highest-scoring international footballer.

It was an interesting Asian Cup match to watch and unpredictable too. In the first half, the War Elephants dominated Blue pilgrims and created difficulties for the Indian team. But everything changed after the break and that’s how the Indian team win begins. The football team captain Sunil Chhetri scored India’s second goal in the second half.
After then, a cheeky finish by Anirudh Thapa, while Jeje put the game with a smart toe-poke and India wins over Thailand.
Going back to history, the Indian team had won two times in Israel in the year 1964. Since Merdeka Cup, 1986, this was India’s first victory over Thailand and also India’s biggest victory margin against Thailand. In Merdeka Cup 1986, India had won by 3-1 against Thailand by the legendary Krishanu Dey.
