Indian women’s team lost twice to Bangladesh in the Asia cup.
This Sunday was a heartbreak for the Indian fans. The Indian women’s team was facing Bangladesh in their 7th consecutive Asia cup final. One thing however changed after this game. Till now India had won the cup each and every time but this time around they lost the final to Bangladesh by 3 wickets.
The game was a very close one, the Indian bowlers did a great job to take the game to the last ball of the last over.
Only the poor show by the Indian batting unit can be held responsible for the loss. They could only manage 112/9 at the end of 20 overs. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur got no support at all from the other end as she was the lone warrior and went on to score a brilliant half century.
Kaur also took the responsibility in the last leg of the game as she decided to bowl the 18th and the 20th over. She picked up 2 crucial wickets but a poor throw on the last ball saw two easy runs being scored and victory for the opponents.
The captain looked extremely disappointed. After the loss she took to social media and wrote that “Beyond the 22 yards, the wides and the no-balls, the fours and the sixes, the ducks and the centuries, the win and the loss, lies the inevitable element of cricket – a wave of several good and bad emotions . After the determination and hard-work, one puts in on the field, being on the losing side is always a pill hard to swallow. “
She accepted the fact that it would’ve been great if India brought the cup home for the 7th time but then cricket is an unpredictable game. On this she wrote that “This was a heart breaking defeat .It was a tough journey , we all took strides yet the stars were not in our favour. The entire nation was hoping for us to bring the Asia cup back home for the seventh time . The team did thrive for the same . We did fight but then in cricket there is always a bad day”
She also pleaded fans to keep the support intact and promised that her team will bring back glory for sure.
